But can you REALLY turn ebooks into bank deposits?  And if so,how?

I realize that even if you’ve been lurking for several months or even years, you may not REALLY FEEL that you can turn ebooks into bank deposits in YOUR bank account.

Sure you believe it’s possible.

Sure you believe it happens for other people.

But you lack the reality or belief it can happen FOR YOU.

Let’s break this down so it’s real FOR YOU.

I have a friend who is a Video Jackey (VJ) in Denmark. He has an interesting skill set, so we talk sometimes over Skype.

In the summer, he works in a factory for a low hourly wage. I explained to him recently that it’s almost nothing for him to get $350/month selling an ebook on his special area of know how.

Obviously, you can use multiples of the figures I’m giving here to arrive at the size of bank deposit YOU WANT. I’m just drawing out an illustration.

And while $350 USD per month may not sound like a lot, hey,its a new car payment. And very little of your own personal time is involved once it’s set up.

If he creates an ebook that sells for $35.00, all he has to sell is 10 a month.

If he’s lucky and gets ONE PERSON with a halfway decent list of 1,000 to 10,000 people to send an email to their list in a month, he would likely make many multiples of that figure.

Think about it.

1. You ADD ON a checkbox upsell on the order form.

If he adds on another $20 per sale, 70% of the people will probably take that, depending on the offer and the target audience.

That means that out of every 10 buyers, 7 spend $20.

That’s $140 divided by 10 sales. So that’s an extra $14 per buyer.

That bumps his average sale amount up to $49. Now he only needs to sell SEVEN a month to make the $350.

What if he adds a One Time Offer (OTO) for say $100? And 10% of the people take him up on that? That means that out of ever 10 buyers, one snags the $100 product. That adds another $10.00 to the value of each buyer.

So instead of his buyers being worth $49, they’re worth $59. Now he only needs 6 sales a month to make the $350.

What if there’s a DOWNSELL for $50? So if they decide not to buy the $100 one time offer, they are offered a half price version of the product without the bonuses or something else removed?

That probably takes it down to needing only 5 sales a month.

Add on 2 more OTO’s. And you’re maybe at needing 4 sales per month, or even 3.

Obviously it all depends on your target audience and the variables involved. But the numbers I’m presenting here would be realistic based on my own personal experience and what I’ve observed in the industry.

Now, what does it take to get those 5 sales a month?

If you convert 1/2% of visitors to sales, that means you need 1,000 visitors per month.

If you convert 1%, you need 500 visitors. And so forth.

If you get one person with a decent list per month to email their list about your product, and they have just a modest-sized list, that alone could do the trick.

And if they have a good list, you could easily dwarf those numbers. A really good list might bring in $3,500 — or more.

Your “work” each month involves posting daily in a few forums, making friends with people who have lists and striking up a few friendships on Twitter.

You maybe need an hour a day or 30 minutes a day. Or an hour every few days. And the smart people use strategies where others get the affiliates for them, so even these numbers can be reduced.

But there are a few things you MUST have to implement this plan:

1. Ability to take orders

2. Ability to have a checkbox upsell on the order form

3. Ability to do one time offers

4. Ability to set people up as affiliates and email them

5. Ability to email your list

6. Ability to deliver your PDF in a password protected area

7. Ability to put up a web page with a sales letter on it

Those are the BASICS.

Now, you CAN use Clickbank. But there ARE restrictions with Clickbank, the main one being that THEY have the list of affiliates not you.

So you can’t push a button and send a promo to your affiliates. Your upsells and downsells on Clickbank are going to be limited.

You won’t automatically be able to add people to your customer list.

Anyway, you need to have SOME system in place to do these 7 things. I discuss the options in “The Writer’s Secret” and walk through the implementation on video in my quickiestart.com product.

What about you?

Are you going to sit on the sidelines making up reasons you can’t do it, won’t do it, why it won’t work for yo or why you have to be skeptical of “the gurus?”

The MAIN thing is that you get started on the process of trading products for dollars instead of your own personal time.

To go back to my friend who is a VJ. Here’s this guy with know how I know people will pay for. The problem is HE doesn’t know that yet because he doesn’t have the experience to know it.

He thinks if he produces an ebook, maybe only one person will buy it.

WRONG!

I know there’s a market for it.

Sometimes you gotta take a bit of a risk and say,“shoot, I’m just gonna go for it.”

Granted, it’s not as easy as sitting on the sofa watching TV.

But if you just modify that and stick a laptop in your lap while sitting there and peck away at the keyboard for 30 minutes or an hour a day, you might be able to create an evergreen source of bank deposits that works for you, so you don’t have to.

What’s stopping you? What’s holding you back? I’m going to state right here, right now that the REAL reason you’re not doing this yet is because your socks are PURPLE.

Allow me to explain.

1. Lack of belief you can do it

This is the #1 obstacle everyone faces. Most people just don’t believe they can pull it off. I don’t know why.

Whether or not you believe is irrelevant. What you DO need is just to DO what needs to be done, regardless of whether or not you believe.

2. Lack of ideas

I solve this problem in Writer’s Secret. The main thing to know is that if you immerse yourself for a bit in a market you WILL get ideas.

3. Lack of motivation

If you lacked motivation, you wouldn’t have read this far in this article.

4. Lack of time

Largely, this is an excuse to NOT do. See, doing takes risk that that has a chance of NOT returning a reward. And it bears the risk of making mistakes, which no one including myself likes to do.

But the point is, lack of time is largely a straw man. Start making a list of ways you waste time every day doing stress-relieving activities.

You’ll find out your time is being taken up by doing activities to relieve the stress of not having the money you want or being able to lead the life you want.

5. Not knowing how

This is NOT an issue anymore with the advent of Writer’s Secret and my other products.

6. Lack of self confidence

See #1.

7. Fear it’s too hard for you to do

What’s an EBook?

Ebook or e-book is the term used commonly for electronic book.

It is digitally produced and delivered via direct download to the reader’s computer.

There’re many advantages to ebooks and distributing them online :

• There are hardly any costs involved in developing them, unlike traditional books. This produces an extremely high profit margin (close to 100%) for those selling them!

• They are instantly accessible and downloadable, satisfying human’s need for instant gratification

• You do not need to keep inventory

• There’re no shipping and handling costs
• Anyone can easily create ebooks with the resources available

Formats and Softwares

There are about a total of 11 ebook formats, but the two most common and popular used to produce and distribute ebooks are:

1. Adobe Acrobat http://www.adobe.com/products/acrobat/ is the main program for creating ebooks in the pdf format (which is perhaps the most ideal).

This is because of its compatibility with both pc and mac users.

Readers will need to install its free Acrobat Reader software to view the ebooks (even for alternative pdf creators).

While Adobe is the standard for creating pdf ebooks online, it’s relatively an expensive investment (costing $250 onwards) for the starter ebook creator.

The learning curve for Acrobat is quite a challenge I must say

Fortunately many alternatives to Adobe Acrobat have surfaced recently. You may want to check them out, the most popular being:

One of the best pdf converters I’ve seen is called “Cute PDF Writer”, available as a freeware at http://www.cutepdf.com. With it you can create professional quality PDF files from almost any printable document, and it’s completely free for personal and commercial use.

What I like is compared to others there’s no watermarks or pop up web advertisements.

However if you’re still stuck, I can convert your ready text document in Microsoft Word to the pdf format. The modest fee for this is at $5 limited to a maximum of 30 pages. Just contact me if this is required.

2. HTML Format

Ebooks are also produced with compiler software programs using standard HTML files.

The HTML compiler software essentially compresses normal HTML files into a self-extracting executable file (.exe)

If you are online you already have a HTML browser installed. Anyone can download and view e-books produced with compiler softwares using any internet browser.

3. Ebook Covers

First impressions count – a lot.

It’s been proven. Image sells and a professional presentation is as important (if not more) than what you actually provide.

An ebook cover makes your product look ‘tangible’ and enable it to come to life. It attracts attention and captures customers’ emotions immediately!

Placing an ebook cover has been known to increase response rates and sales by as much as a whopping 300%!

And if you do not have one, it WILL definitely lessen sales, that’s as much as I can say.

Unfortunately, no matter how good your information is, your ebook may not be sought after more than if it looks good and pleasing to the eye.

Some Thoughts on Rebrandible EBooks

To enhance your ebook viral marketing campaigns, you MUST create rebrandible ebooks once you are more experienced.

A rebrandible ebook allow others who have downloaded your ebook to ‘rebrand’ it with their own information and website details. This works best if you’re the affiliate program owner yourself though it’s not necessary if you’re promoting multi-tier programs.

But as an affiliate, you can also benefit from creating your own rebrandible ebooks IF certain variables are controlled. For instance, do not allow rebranding of the main affiliate product unique affiliate ID. Provide a rebranding of a website link only, ie. “This ebook is compliment of xxxwebsite”.

The other way round can also work. Allow rebranding of affiliate links only, while you redirect traffic to another site of your choice. It’s your choice really but I normally prefer the first example.

To create such viral ebooks, you’ll need rebrandible software.

And in a few seconds, their purchase will be with them. They can decide to print it out and have that typical ‘book feel’ or they can carry it with them in mobile devices (which includes some brands of smart phones). Isn’t that cool? Can you see ‘you’ in that picture?

What more?

You can easily get your questions answered in little to no time when making buying ebook online. The majority of online e book stores have instant answers at their buyers’ fingertips, and many of them offer ‘on site’ (means online – real time) customer service and through the phone, of course. They want to make it easier to the buyer to find exactly what they are looking for and let the buyer enjoy the time saved for other beneficial things like reading their new purchased material.

Without sounding too futuristic, some readers still prefer flocking their local bookstores to find the latest book releases for their favorite subjects because that were the places chosen by the author or authoress, and the only places they knew to do book launches.

They probably have not discover the Web yet, and what it can do…probably…

But for the rest of folks who already embrace the digital age manifestation, a steady growing number of them are choosing to the internet in search of books’ titles or better know as e books which comes in Pdf or Exe forms. There are numerous reasons why so many readers are now buying books in ebook format as opposed to paperback and hardcover versions that are typically found in bookstores.

You already know that for an online purchase, you don’t have to leave the ease and comfort of your home. You might also have guessed that many readers prefer making their book purchases online in ebook format due to the affordability (obviously!). In some cases online ebook stores actually offer free, relevant, complimentary e books after buyers made a set number of purchases. Price wise? Well, almost all ebooks sold from ebook stores online cost less than half of the price of average paperback book found in a typical bookstore in your neighborhood.

And due to affordability of pdf e books, avid readers can get double or triple or totally insane amount of books as they could if they were to purchase them in paperback or hardback. Make a Direct Buy From Blog

I have seen lots and lots of blog – Wordpress blog in particular – which employ this business model. Typically, what people see is a list of e-books on the blog, simple descriptions, and ‘Buy Buttons.’ This model is good for one thing: Blogs are already optimized for search engines thus they are relatively easy to get ranking and attract organic (natural) traffic.

That is the main purpose actually…

Plus, nowadays blogs templates (Wordpress) can be customized for this purpose. In fact, visitors would not have thought that they are looking at blog. It looks more like an online store but without the typical ‘store like’ presentation. Visitors find it more appealing and often time rewarded such professionalism with a sale or two.

I now I did…

Even though I own an e book store but I really appreciate something new which crops up on the Net every now and then. I find them worth spending my time on and I even consider changing my own store to the same outlook soon. Well, I got to keep up with the Jones right?

Now let’s move to the second point of view…

Looking For Ebooks About Blog

That includes ‘how to blog’, ‘best blog software’, blog templates, etc. There are digital marketplaces which sell such e books like Clickbank, Paydotcom and others.

I personally believe that, for e book on blogging, it is best to search the digital marketplace before going for open search on the web. The reason is simply the authors i.e. experts on blogging topics like to pitch their offer to like minded folks. If you understand anything about marketing then you know that market matters most thus it is easier to pitch products to like-minded people and get the buy in rather than to make it open wide.

Buy ebooks on blog – if you ever asked yourself this question, consider what you are looking for exactly because you might not find what you are looking for in here but I am glad to be of service to lead you to the right resources.

But I can’t guarantee that will happen to whole online community though…

I can ONLY guarantee that on my e book store. So how exactly you make sure you are safe when you buy e book – from me or others? Here’s my suggestion:

1) Make sure you buy from ‘trusted’ sellers.

How do recognize a seller you can trust? First, you look for some verification from online authority (Verisign, etc.). I still don’t have this on my site to be honest, but I have another ‘butt selling’ alternative to offer to you – do a quick check up on Whois; the site that list all the domains in the world, and look up my site there.

I am not hiding. There, you will find me – my phone, my home address, etc.

2) Make sure they have ‘Term and Condition’ Page

If this is on my checklist, I’ll say, “Checked!”

3) Make sure there are payment processors involve

I use Paypal. Others might use Worldpay, 2Checkout, etc. but the fact remains: check for payment processor. If you have any dispute with your purchase, the process is made simple by the help of payment processor.

But it not always take the side of the Seller though (i.e. Me!)…

I have experience a case where I was asked to reverse payment for a purchase because the buyer is not verified. I know I can control what’s going on in my e book store but there’s less I can do to control the kind of crowd I attract to my site.

And that include the *spammers*…

They just come, take what they like and make it as if they are the victim, and so far, the payment processor had taken their side. I hate to see this happen and I even consider doing something different for my site but for now, I am too lazy to change.

I have not faced major problem so far with e book purchased from my e book store but I know ‘the day is not always bright’. The cloudy days are sure to come and I have prepared for that. I have no pity if you try to go away for free but if there was mistake from my part, I’ll amend it right away.

Buying as you know is a 2 way process. I do my part and you do yours. I can make sure you are protected when doing a transaction with me but I have, at this moment, just a little protection from you.

So, are buying e-books safe? As far as my e book store is concern, the one who is not safe is me – the owner. Who guarantee my safety?

Let’s suppose you have found a topic and completed the writing, you then have to make an important decision. The decision may not only affect how much money you make, but how much work required to bring it forward to your market. If you do not have the time nor the money, maybe you want to consider offering resell rights to your ebook.

Resell rights is a sound online business model and has helped many individuals make money online. If you had decided to have someone else sell your masterpiece, this is how you are going to go about it. In a way, what you actually do is giving away your e-book but for a fee. Resellers who buy your e-book will then market it. Most likely, that person know or have some experience in promoting product online. I believe they have to or else, they get no return from their investment.

When it comes to offering resale rights to your e-book, there are a number of options. Many authors allow their purchaser to alter the material and then claim the creation rights. This is known as ‘private label resell rights.’ Some creator do not allow this but allow the purchasers’ name to be alongside their names. This is called ‘master resale rights.’ By creating your own contract or user agreement, you should be able to stipulate what you want and do not want done with your e-book.

The resellers of your e-book will make a certain amount of profit from the sale. Often time, the amount of money they make depends on how much work they put into their marketing.  You may be interested in pocketing this money yourself but you must understand how resell rights work. When offering your rights for sale, you can put a price tag on it that makes you feel worthy of your hard work. That is the only variable you can control in this business equation. Other than that, it is all in the hands of your resellers.

If you are interested in creating Pdf reports, e documents, downloadable files for the purpose of offering resell rights, start examining your options. As the popularity of reselling business increases, so does the competition. To make money off of this opportunity, act fast before someone else decides to becomes your next ebook resell business competitor.

When you buy ebook resell packages what you really buy is a bundle of information. If you are anything like me, I am always on the look out for the best products and deals because that is what I do.

I am a reseller.

I find it hard to believe when people buy e book with resale rights for nothing. Even if they do, they might not realize a golden opportunity to get back their investment by following some simple, doable steps. But we are not talking about making profit from your e book purchase aren’t we so lets just stick to the matter at hand shall we?

What Is a Resell Rights?

I can tell you that there are only two types of rights to a piece of information which comes in e book form:

1) Personal rights
2) Resell rights

Personal rights do not allow you to sell the item in whatever form you can come up with. It is for your own personal use and the material will self-destruct (just kidding!). You cannot give it away for free and you cannot include it as a package unless stated otherwise. Even some free giveaway ebook can have personal rights to it. I have a few in my possession. This usually are given as a teaser for bigger products but the rights do not allow you to give it away, one way or the other.

Resell rights on the other hands allow you to sell and make profits. Generally, it falls into 3 categories (with some twist of sub-categories but we leave them for another time):

Resale Rights Only

What it means is you can buy and resell that e book to one customer. That is it. For example you buy ‘How to Sell Your First E Book Online’ and it comes with resale rights. After you done with the piece, you can turn around and list it on Tradebit or you slap your own website and sell it. But you can only sell it to ONE person which means, you can out down in your sales letter ‘Only 1 copy left’ or ‘Only 1 copy will ever be sold.’ And you cannot alter the e book in any way you like. Clear?

Master Resell Rights

With master resale rights (MRR), you can add some more info to the offer. You can add your name besides the author and instantly become the co-author. Cool ey? But still, you cannot claim the book as your brainchild. The original author still holds the right and you just promote it as a reseller. You resell it (is that why you buy the ebook resell in the first place?). It should be obvious that by giving MRR to e book, the author aim to spread his presence through you. I mean it is a fair trade right? He or she ‘slaves’ him or herself to create the piece and wants to be rewarded. You on the other hand just ride on and make profit. Sounds fair to me…

With MRR you can sell the e book to another person and that person can sell it to another person. Then the selling cycle stops. There are sub-categories of MRR which allow you to pass on the license so your next customer can sell to more people down the road.

It is enough for you to know that with MRR you can customize and sell to more than one person.

And I save the best for last…

Private Label Rights

This is one of the best licenses to get your hands on, if you can. But be aware though – lately there are many ‘fly-by-nights’ private label resell rights (PLR) providers roaming the Net. They offer low quality, out of date product packages which hide behind overly nice design and promoted by greedy, selfish marketers who happen to overuse your e-mail address (just because you signed up with them)!

I tell you what – you can learn from these selfish SOB. How? Look at what they promote and outperformed them with better product. I wanted to try this but right now, I am too busy with my own, non-invasive making money online project. I do not ask my potential customers for their e-mail address. I just provide them with value-added content (have I provide value to you with this post? I hope I did!).

Where to Buy Ebook to Resell?

These are my favorite sources:

1) Google. Type “subject+resell rights” into the Search Box and look at what turns up. You can use other Search Engines (SE) if you like.

2) Forums. Try Warrior Forum or Conquer Your Niche Forum.

3) Product Developer. One that I know of is the guys over at Surefirewealth. You might want to check them out.

4) Individual e book store owners. I can’t help but list this one in because I am one of them…

How Much You Need to Pay?

Depending on your sources, some providers or resellers put different requirements for their offer. It can be a one time off special offer. It can be special occasion sale a.k.a. Firesale. It can be a membership site concept. It all varies. It is best if you know how much budget you are going to work with. Don’t just jump on the bandwagon or else you are left with pile of junks that only collect dust on your virtual shelf (pity you if that ever happen!).

To buy ebook resell or not to buy – that actually the question you asked once you get your plan put together because I do find it hard to believe until today, that a person just go out and buy such e book for personal use. I am assuming this is your first time that you never sold an e book in your entire life before, and you never make a dime if you have tried selling e books right now. Fair? Let’s get it on!

Profit Defines

Lame right? I mean who did not know that profit is what you have left after you take away your expenses from your capital. But wait; I did say capital and do you know how much do you need to set up a reselling process for ebook? Let me walk you through.

1) The cost to own the product. If you can create your own, fine, that’s a huge save to begin with. If not, then there’s ‘acquisition’ cost i.e. cost of owning a ‘resellers license.’ Typically it cost you around low $27 to high $97 for a license. Sometimes it falls in between and sometimes it is at extreme end.

I have seen offers that go for less than $5 and higher than $147!

Next…

2) The domain and hosting cost. You need a place to showcase your offer and online, that place is called ‘websites.’ You can opt to settle for free alternative e.g. Tradebit, Paydotcom, etc. but there’s reason why you want to set up your own ‘outlet’…

You want total control!

That is why earlier on I told you that I can send you astray with the words in here. I assume that NO one had told you the profit for a resell ebook is made on the BACKEND. Huh!?

I’ll explain that in a while. Let’s move on.

3) Miscellaneous cost. When you acquire a license right, there are products which are ‘raw.’ You need to customize them to make it presentable. But the fact remains that these are the costs i.e. your capital that you need to come up with if you want to start your reselling business. To make profit, you simply make sure that what get from your sales are more than what you spend.

And I have not even started with cost to get traffic! But of course, there’s free traffic method for first timers but that’s the subject for another time. I promised you earlier to tell you about ‘profit from reselling ebook is made on the backend.’

When you set up your resellers’ website (on your own domain and hosting of course), it is wise for you to get another product – e book, software, audio or video – to complement your resale offer. Some experts say that you do not set up your website and pitch your offer until you have the whole process well thought out. You have your main offer, your backend offer and your follow up e-mail series to presell your offer in case they did not take it up the first time.

And that’s why it is call ‘back end’ profit because put simply, the action took place at the back. Have I made it clear to you? I hope I have.

Selling one e book might not make you millions overnight. This is not like selling Dan Brown’s The Da Vinci Code and grabbed by millions. So the best you can do is to make your offer appeals to as many target audience as possible. I have mix emotions about this but let’s just make this simple and try to go for as many people as possible.

It is Not Your Offer; It’s Your Market

But then again, your market is the key. Whether you hit big or miss big, your market determines that. You can come up with the best combination of products, the most persuasive words to sell them, and the impeccable e-cover which you hire a branded designer to come up with but if it did not appeal to a specific, hungry, rabid market; all that can amount to zero.

That means no profit.

The point I am making here is simply this: your resell ebook profits are not solely depending on what you have to offer. It depends on your whole sales process, your market and your commitment to stick to a plan. That explains why I am still hanging on to my business model for the past three years.
