Why people buy a ebook? Thre is nothing fancy about this question and there is nothing fancy about the answer either. If people were looking for e book, it is for their own reasons and we cannot possibly list all the reasons down but if we can, some of us are going to get pretty rich delivering what people are looking for.
I have started buying e books in late 2006. I was fascinated with how information is transmitted through them and I have an ambition to play a part to somewhat ‘revolutionary’ idea back then.

I believe it is still revolutionary today and my bet, in years to come…

But the thing is, information is received by other senses too and e book in this sense, are limited to visual senses (and maybe auditory if you read them aloud). Today, complex multimedia presentation involving high-definition Audio-Visual technologies are set to replace e books…

… Or so it may seem.

Hi-Tech Limitation

I was scared and intimidated every time I received something in my e-mail Inbox with link to audio-visual presentation even if it took the form of screenshot videos. I was afraid that I am going to be left behind in the race. I still remember in 2007, after attending a seminar on how to build website, I brought home a CD which contains a tutorial on how to FTP files to server.

And the presentation was done using Camtasia…

Wow! That blows me away. I sat in my chair wondering I would measure up to these guys. It takes me about a year before I finally made my first video presentation. I was thrilled to say the least but I know from that point onwards that information is slowly taking a different route to the seekers BUT…

That is what I think. In actual fact, even with the high number of online visitors to Video sharing sites, there are still more visitors to ‘non-video showing’ sites combined! What this means is people still received information the traditional way – printed words online or off. Argue?

I can see that video and audio is gaining their ground but printed material online like e book is still ‘holding ground’ with little sign of shaking.

Why is this so? I believe the answer is simply in the word ‘accessibility.’

You probably enjoy watching and listening to the video but in the end of the day, you still want something you can take with you and devour in your own sweet time. Videos do not fit this criterion; ebooks do.

Buy Ebooks with Resell Rights

When you buy ebooks, do you choose to buy ebooks with resell rights or you will settle for personal rights? I am going to be bias with this issue because I am going to advocate my personal preference which is to buy the former.

Why Buy E books with Resell Rights?

The most obvious reason is you want to ‘resell it’. A little over 3 years ago, I made my first e book purchase, about 47 dollars on a topic of niche marketing. Before that, the kind of e books I got my hands on was the free ones only. The purchased e book comes with ‘personal right’, meaning, it is only for my own use i.e. for my eyes only (but obviously I won’t tell the author that I have showed it to my wife!).

Some free e books comes with personal right, and some with resell rights. It might sound a bit funny when a free e book can be sold but the reason behind that was obviously to distribute it with what marketers called ‘viral marketing’.

And most of the free e books come with Master Resell Rights which simply means, you as the owner; can put your name BESIDES the Original Author (i.e. co-author) and makes it looks like both of you co-create the content.

But some free e book comes with PLR or Private Label Rights. You can basically do whatever you want with PLR; sell it, rename it, break it down or simply give it away as it is – totally up to you.

The reasons for buying e books with resell rights then become clearly to:

Allow you to own contents without creating them which saves you lots of times and production cost.
Make profit reselling the contents.
Make you look ‘authoritative’ (well, sort of).

When to Buy Resell Rights to E Books?

The obvious answer is when there is offer or you want to buy it when your overall profit making strategy warrants it like you need freebies to build a list.

If you are ambitious, you can buy resell rights to certain content to lead a market. I know of a marketer who did that in a self improvement market where he is not a prominent player but he was inspired to be one. He finds an e book about positive self images which is very popular at that time and immediately acquires the resell rights to it.

He became an important niche player almost overnight. You can do that if your capital allows you.

Where to Buy Ebooks That Comes With Resell Rights?

Here are a few suggestions:

You do a Google search for “your e book topic+resell rights” (exactly like I’m typing it but replace ‘your topic’ with subject names).
Look for related online forums and find the appropriate section like for example the forum I joined; Conquer Your Niche Forum, lists its offer in the JV/Special Offer section.
Looks for JV Giveaway events.
Search for individual e book store owner.

What You Should Do Once You Acquire the Rights?

You should read the license carefully. See whether there are special clauses that limit what you can do with the content. Then, you want to customize the package with at least, your name or identity since most of the product is totally raw (some come in Word Documents and Photoshop images).

Lastly, you want to promote it. Leaving it as it is won’t bring you the money, which brings us to…

How to Promote E Books with Resale Rights?

There are no easy answers but a few proven ways that produce success take after these forms:

Offering them for free and capture the prospects contact (lead capture).
Offer a few e books as ‘backends’.
Create a membership site based on the subject.
Joint Ventures.

These are some of the proven profitable ways but I make no guarantee. Proceed with caution.

Buying e books with resell rights might your best investment when you thought about starting out or even expanding. Sadly, like any other business model, there is no shortcut and there is no guarantee that this will print money for you. Plan your strategy well. Your chance to succeed is higher with proper perspective and planning.

I AM honest. And here are some more evidence:

Look at the status – verified which means, my credit card and the financial institution were already checked out. It real. It’s true. And I’m being honest up to this point but you know what, my last screen shot which you have to pay a little bit closer attention to really see why you are protected in every transaction you made with me.

That were ALL the transaction that took place as a result of purchase directly from the e book store for the whole of last year (2008). I know I should’ve shown you impressive, out of the world number but hey; that’s that.

But pay close attention to the third transaction from the top. See it?

The ‘Status‘ said ‘Reversed‘ and that’s mean the amount was cancelled by Paypal due to ‘dubious’ transaction. In this particular case, the buyer was not a verified Paypal user; the kind of user I don’t mind NOT HAVING!

In fact, in the whole transaction above, there are MORE honest buyers buying from me than there are dishonest buyers. But, the point I wat to make clear is this:

You are more protected as a buyer than I am as a seller.

Savvy?

So based on all the evidence I shared with ya, do you still have any doubt that buying e book online from honest person like me is risky? Hmm? If you still do, then may God have mercy on ya. Or you can tell me below ‘why’ and let see if I can help you with that.
