Ouch! How did I miss that ONE...
The image that I’ve inserted with this post barely touch the base of how I felt about making THIS mistake with how I set up and later promote my online ebook store. Yup, I was riding the Newbie learning curve but it’s not an excuse for me to forever stay in that area.
Here’s what I meant…
I notice this in many typical online e book store operator. And One expert points out to me that I am no big company with millions to spend on promotion and I got everything figured out wrongly.
Of course, at that point of time I’m at the verge of realizing that mistake on my own. Since I consider myself not a typical online e book store retailer or owner, heck, I should’ve known better than to…
Send My Visitors Straight to the E Book Store
And that folks is my biggest mistakes. Why?
A few reasons (these are purely off-hands):
- I don’t know who the hell THEY are
- I overlooked how they reach me; Articles? PPC? SEO? Referral? Spam?
- I never consider how they end up there; Keywords/phrase?
- I don’t ask what they want to do ACTUALLY…
- I don’t bother asking did they FIND what they’re looking for here…
I’m Becoming a S*O*B Seller
And sellers are hated. People generally scurry from them if they see one on the street. I should know better. I spent more than 12 years being one myself. And what make I think it’s different online? Yeah. Same ole, same ole…
And I know for a fact that people online or off, like to buy. They hate being sold but they LOVE buying. That supposed to be my ultimate mission: helping my visitors to buy NOT sell to them.
So Here’s the Lesson
I’ve rant a few light years ago that price is not my potential customers main concern. Then I discover that fear holds them back. But NOW, I’m telling ya’all, TRUST will move them up a notch in the buying process.
Yes, it’s the Big ‘T’ word. It’s a big thing in marriage, friendship and business.
I’ve spot a few areas where I got messed up due to ‘incomplete’ info. Hey, having incomplete info is good as long as you take action. If you wait for everything to fall into places i.e. having all the info, that’s CONCLUDING not DECIDING.
And I’m Glad I Take the Action
Because action jolts me into the right path. My action which I decided after my ‘incomplete’ information results in consequences which push me into the corner and make me think, “Yeah, you’re right. That was absolutely wrong. I was a jerk!”
Now I have a chance to rectify that and make new decision and take new action. I got new info. And by doing so, I’m hopeful that I’m on the right track.
Am I on the right track? What do you think?
One of the thing I immediately do after realizing this ‘near fatal’ mistake was to send my visitor to somewhere else, a transit point where they can take a glimpse of what I got to offer before I pitch the real offer to them.
I promise myself that the e book store is the last thing I want my visitors to see. Period.
I won’t make that mistake ever…again.
PS. I’m going to use this motto to remind myself of this ’strange but true’ fact: Character beats Content Everytime (a special thanks to Frank Kern for that one).
